Medicinal Plant Walk
Do you wish you could identify plants when you’re out walking in nature?
Do you use one of those plant ID apps but you’re not quite sure if it’s accurate?
Interested in foraging but not sure how to do it safely?
Join me for a medicinal plant walk!
We will meander through one of my favorite forests and snoop at all the medicinal plants we can find. We will look closely at identifying features such as leaf characteristics, flowers, growing habit, and anything else we can observe.
We will talk about medicinal qualities of the plants and how to identify them when you see them in other contexts.
Dates
Saturday, September 21st, 9:00am-10:30am
Saturday, September 28th, 9:00am-10:30am
Registration is required.

notes
We will meet in Rosemont, Delaware Twp. When you register you’ll be given the exact address and all the info you need to arrive. This info will be delivered via downloadable PDF. I will also email you the evening prior to the plant walk.
The area that we’ll walk will be mostly flat, but we’ll go up and down two moderate hills. I would describe it as more of a “walk” than a hike but there are two small hills. There is just the smallest big of “scrambling” over rocks — if you tend to use a walking stick, bring it.
Please plan to arrive 10 minutes early so that we can leave for the walk on time. The trail is fairly obvious, so if you’re late just begin along the trail and catch up with us.
There is no bathroom on the property. The nearest public place with a bathroom would be a business in Stockton, NJ or the Bull’s Island park off Rt. 29.
Bring: Water, a walking stick if desired, and any protection against insects, poison ivy, sun, or heat that you need. You are welcome to bring a loupe and a field guide if you like.
We will not be foraging — we’ll just be lovingly observing the plants.
The walk is “light rain” or shine. If it’s raining, bring rain gear! If it’s storming and dangerous, I will cancel. If I cancel the walk, I will notify you via email at least 2 hours before the walk via email (so please be sure your email address is accurate when you register). If I cancel the walk I’ll send you a refund.
It’s likely that the walk will go for longer than an hour, but you can of course leave whenever you like.
