[Go Home]
It's very cozy in the cabin, the chai smells good, and you're intrigued by the old woman, but you're feeling like it's time to go. After all, you don't know what's in that chai.
You give her the type of smile that lets her know that, while you're friendly, you're not friends... yet. "I'd best be getting home. It looks like the rain has lifted."
"Come back when you're ready," she says, returning your smile with the knowing-and-not-quite-condescending smirk that only obviously wise elders are allowed to use.
You open the door and cross the clearing back into the forest, heading in the direction you came from.
Once you're back in the cool forest fog, you notice a particularly entrancing patch of mushrooms growing out of moss. You stoop down to enjoy them, and linger, mesmerized. When you stand, you recognize your surroundings again. Were you this close to the trail the whole time? How could there have been a cabin so close that you never noticed before?
You turn around to check and peek at the cabin again, but behind you the forest simply extends. There is no clearing in sight.
